Jamie Jones
My Story
Jamie grew up in Seymour, Indiana and uses the pronouns she/her/hers. After graduating from Seymour High School, she attended Miami University where she majored in psychology, minored in neuroscience, and developed an interest in the impact of psychological factors on physical health and vice versa. After graduating from Miami University, she began her graduate training at The Ohio State University where she continued to study the biopsychosocial aspects of health and wellness from a research perspective; it was here that she discovered an interest in teaching and her passion for therapeutically applying knowledge obtained through sound research methodology to the treatment of those struggling with stress, anxiety, depression, and suicidality. To further her clinical training, she attended the University of Indianapolisand where she refined her assessment and therapeutic skills.Other areas of interest include neuropsychology, suicidology, adjustment, end-of-life, spirituality, and minority stress. She joined our practice in 2008 as a master's level therapist and testing technician. Here she has enjoyed working with adolescents and adults to minimize the negative impacts of stress, trauma, anxiety, and depression and to maximize emotional and functional wellbeing. Though cognitive-behavioral and trauma-informed therapies form the basis of her therapeutic approach, she draws from a variety of perspectives to aid clients in achieving their therapeutic goals. She is an animal lover who has the privilege of caring for her dog and cats. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with family, friends, and animals; reading books; watching movies; listening to music; and advocating for the welfare of animals.
